Wikia Inc. Search Engine is Coming to Town March 13, 2007

Since Internet surfing is very popular nowadays every one has their own site, which they prefer to visit every now and then, when they want to look and research for things they want to know. Most Internet users are familiar with the search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN Live.

Well great news another search engine is coming to town to help you with your needs online. It is called the Wikia.Inc. For all those people who are not yet familiar with the site, well it’s the non-profit company that owns Wikipedia.

According to Wikia’s founder, Jimmy Wales they would like to bring information to tell the internet users the party is a little more open-source know-how, letting its users tweak the way the engine scans, sorts and filters.

By making the search open-source, enthusiastic users can fix problems before they become exploited (like has happened in the past with every other search engine). The goal is to let humans do what algorithms cannot – correct, modify, and adapt to an ever-changing world wide web.

The Wikia site began and showed up at the end of last year but this is the first time that Wales, the site’s founder to pushed it publicly to get attention for it. Wales is hoping to be able to win at least a 5% of the search engine industry.
